Labor Rotation Plans

About Labor Rotation Plans

A labor rotation plan allows you to define how often an employee is scheduled for a specific job and/or at a specific workstation. For example, if a Table Games Dealer cannot work the same table assignment more than two days in a row, you can configure this requirement and

RMS

will schedule accordingly.

Labor rotation plans can be used for any number of job classes and/or assignments.

  • When you use a rotation plan as a job class rotation plan, employees in that job class will be rotated as indicated by the rotation interval.
  • When you use a rotation plan as an assignment rotation plan, the employees will be rotated through all the assignments in that job class based on the rotation interval.

If Rotate Every Day is not selected this indicates the maximum number of consecutive days an employee can be scheduled for that assignment/job class.

If Rotate Every Day is selected it indicates the number of days before the employee can be re-scheduled for that job/assignment. Note: If an employee has fewer jobs than the number you have designated as the rotation interval,

RMS

will automatically adjust the interval to match the number of jobs/assignments.

The table below illustrates an example of a labor rotation plan used as an assignment rotation plan.

Assumptions:

  • Employee can work both Assignment A and Assignment B
  • The rotation interval for both assignments is 2 days

The employee work schedule might look like this:

Can Work Assignment A

Can Work Assignment B

Can Work Assignment A

Can Work Assignment B

Labor rotation plans are optional and should be used sparingly and only as needed. Too many rotation plans means that you must have enough employees to cover all the shifts.

Name

Identifies the rotation plan.

Rotate Every Day

If checked, denotes that an employee cannot work the same assignment for the length of time indicated in the Rotation Interval in a row.

RMS

will start at the top of the assignment list and schedule employees for a new assignment every day until it reaches the bottom of the list and then repeat the process.

For example, if there are five assignments for Blackjack, the employee's schedule would look like this: Day one = BJ1, Day two = BJ2, Day three = BJ3, Day four = BJ4, Day 5 = BJ5, Day 6 = BJ1, etc.

If unchecked, denotes that an employee should be scheduled for the first assignment on the list, for the length of time you specify in the Rotation Interval, before scheduling the next assignment on the list.

For example, if you chose a Rotation Interval of 3 days, the employee's schedule would look like this: Day one = BJ1, Day two = BJ1, Day three = BJ1, Day four = BJ2, etc.

Rotation Interval

Allows you to choose the time basis for the rotation plan.

  • If Rotate Every Day is selected:
    • Daily. Allows you to choose the interval of time, in days, how much time there must pass before that job/assignment can be worked again.
    • Weekly. Allows you to choose the interval of time, in weeks, how much time there must pass before that job/assignment can be worked again.
  • If Rotate Every Day is NOT selected:
    • Daily. Allows you to choose the interval of time, in days, that the same job/assignment can be worked before changing assignments.
    • Weekly. Allows you to choose the interval of time, in weeks, that the same job/assignment can be worked before changing assignments.
