About Shift Categories

This function allows you to differentiate different types of shifts such as Training, Regular, Special, etc. These categories appear as choices in the Scheduling/Employee View/Add Shift screen. You can denote that the shift is in a Training Shift Category and whether it is a Training Shift, choose to Include the data in Productivity, and specify whether you want to Auto-Sync Scheduled Hours and/or Auto-Calculate Costs.

Auto-Sync Scheduled Hours means that scheduled hours should be copied to Enter Actual Hours. Note that the Auto-Sync Scheduled Hours is an immediate function. If you have this configured and you do not want these hours to automatically show in the Enter Actual Hours screen, you will not want to use this functionality. 

Auto-Calculate Costs calculates costs in the Enter Schedule Hours and Enter Actual Hours screens, based on the default wage that was configured for the Job. Note that in order for Auto-Calculate Costs to work, you must have configured the Default Wage at either the Division, Department or Job level.
