Shift Differential
Shift Differential work rules allow you to add "extra" pay for hours worked between an established Start Time and End Time. Earnings are fixed dollar amounts paid for time worked during the time range.

Day of Week with Holiday
Description | Creates an earning for all hours worked on the selected day of the week. If the day of the week is a holiday, then an earning for all hours worked during the holiday is applied, rather than the day of the week. This is paid as Shift Hours x Rate x Factor. | |

Time of Day
Description | Give extra pay to employees for hours worked between a given Start Time and End Time. | |
Example(s) | If a differential of 12.5 cents/hour is paid for employees who work between 23:00 and 07:00, the employee would receive an Earning of $1.00 (8 hrs X .125). | |

Time of Day Percentage
Description | Add earnings for hours worked between a given start time and end time. The Earning is determined by (Job Rate X Pct of Job Rate/100) + Differential Rate. | |

Min Pct Hrs Between | Shift must contain the minimum pct of shift hours between the start and end times of the differential to be calculated. Pay Net Shift Hrs | If selected, the differential is paid for the total net hours for the shift. If not selected, the differential is only paid on the hours between the start and end of the established Start and End times. | |

Hours Threshold Fixed Earnings
Description | Creates a fixed dollar Earning for any shift over the specified minimum hours. | |
Example(s) | If an employee works at least six hours, they automatically get an extra $5.00 as a meal credit. | |

Split Shift Differential Rate
Description | Creates an earning for an employee whose daily working time is split into two working periods. The earning is an hourly rate paid for the number of hours between shifts, if they fall between the minimum and maximum hours. | |
Example(s) | If an employee works a regular shift and is asked to work another shift that starts two hours after the end time of the first shift, the employee would get paid for the two hours wait time. | |

Deduct Minimum Wage | If selected, the work rule deducts, from premium pay owed, any amount earned by the employee for the split-shift if is more than the sum of the hours worked multiplied by the minimum wage (if Amount Earned > hours x Min. Wage). | |

First Shift Max | Hours threshold for the first shift. If the first shift exceeds this threshold, employees are not eligible for a split shift. | |
Max Time Between Shifts | Maximum length of time between shifts for which the differential is paid. For example, if your maximum time is 2 hours, and there actually is 3 hours between shifts, the differential would only be paid on the 2 hours. | |
Maximum Hours Paid | Maximum number of hours employees can be paid for the premium earning. | |
Min Time Between Shifts | Minimum length of time between shifts for which the differential is paid. For example, if Min Time Between Shifts is set to 1 hour, and 45 minutes passes between shifts, the differential is not paid. | |
Minimum Hours Paid | Minimum number of hours an employee will be paid for the earning. | |
Second Shift Max | Hours threshold for the second shift. If the second shift exceeds this threshold, employees are not eligible for a split shift. | |

Break Period Penalty
Description | Creates an hour-based penalty Earning if a break is not taken during the specified hours worked. | |
Example(s) | The Plus One rule states that an employee who works more than 5 hours must take at least a 30 minute break or the employer is required to pay the employee an additional hour at the employee's regular rate of pay. | |

Paid Break Fixed Hours
Description | Apply a fixed hour earning to a shift that is over the minimum shift length and contains a punch break over the minimum break length. | |

Contract Guarantee Rule
Description | Pays employees the guaranteed contract wage for secondary department shifts when working less than the contract in home department. Employees can work additional hours at a job rate but cannot be paid less that their own rate of pay until all of their monthly contracted hours have been fulfilled. | |
