Fixed / Dynamic

Select one of the following radio buttons:

  • Fixed – Select if you want to add a fixed spread standard. Fixed standards are based on KBI values for the day.
  • Dynamic – Select if you want to add a dynamic spread standard. Dynamic spread standards that are based on KBI values that are in time increments less than one day.
Default: Fixed.
From / To Volume

Type the numerals to define the KBI volume range of the spread standard.

If a KBI value number falls within the volume range, the specified number of employees will be staffed.

If you select the Dynamic radio button, the From Volume and To Volume fields appear in the table row in front of the days of the week.

Values can range from 1 to infinity.

The From Volume field is REQUIRED. If you leave the To Volume field blank, the value is infinity.

If the range is not important to the spread standard, you can type 0 in the From Volume field and leave the To Volume field blank. For example, suppose you use the KBI for Total Rooms. You know that you will never have more than 500 rooms, so you would enter 1 in the From Volume field and leave the To Volume field blank.

If you use a KBI based on the number of rooms, and the time required to perform the variable work increases or decreases with higher volume, you should create and specify additional ranges. Conceivably you can have multiple ranges for each KBI. Be careful to make the top end of the range a number that is higher than you could ever encounter. In the previous example, if you set the range as 1-500 and then enter 501 rooms (because a room was sold twice in one day),

RMS

will ignore the 501 and return a 0 standard.

Units

Select one of the following:

  • Minutes/Unit – How many minutes it takes an employee to complete a unit (that is, a KBI value)—for example, how many minutes it takes a valet to park 1 car.
  • Units/Person per period – How many units are accomplished by an employee for a given period (defined for the assignment)—for example, how many cars a valet can park in a 15-minute period.

This drop-down menu appears only if you selected the Dynamic radio button.

Periods / Days of week

Add a volume for each day of the week.

  • If you are adding a fixed spread standard, enter a volume for periods throughout the days. Periods are defined for the assignment in the Planner tab.
  • If you are adding a dynamic spread standard, the Period rows does no appear. Enter only a volume for the days.
Period rows only appear if you selected the Fixed radio button.
