Unpaid Lunches

About Scheduling Unpaid Lunches

Scheduling unpaid employee lunches has different ramifications depending on how you configure it. There are two modes for scheduling unpaid lunches: Add to End Time and Subtract from Forecast.

The Add to End Time mode adds time to the end of the shift but doesn't change the Forecast hours in the Requirements. For example, if you have a Requirement of 8 hours and an unpaid employee lunch of .5 hours, the schedule would show that the employee is on-property for 8.5 hours but the Requirements will show that the 8 hour requirement has been met (but not exceeded).

Please note that this mode may display what appears to be an overlap in the scheduling, and you may think that you are over-scheduled for 30 mins. For example, you see that an employee is scheduled until 14:30 and that another employee's shift starts at 14:00. It appears that there is an overlap and that you are over the Requirement by 30 mins., when in actuality you do have a 30-minute overlap of employees but you are meeting the Requirements.

The Subtract From Forecast mode subtracts unpaid employee lunch time from the Forecast hours in the Requirements but does not add time to the end of the shift. (Neither the Requirement or Schedule records start/end times will be modified.) For example, if the shift is a 7.5 hour shift and the employee has a 30-minute unpaid lunch, the employee's shift will be displayed on the schedule as 06:00 to 14:00 and the forecasted hours will be 7.5 hours. The schedule will show that the next employee's shift starts at 14:00, so there is no overlap in scheduling and the Requirements have been met.
