Configuring-Viewing Budgets

Entering data in the budget (either initially or when making adjustments) means that you apply dollar amounts to budget lines. There are two parts to entering data for a budget: entering the initial data once the forecast has been completed, and editing the budget throughout the year. The actions for initial and subsequent editing are done the same way, so you will only see one set of instructions.

There are two viewing modes for the Configure/View Budget screen: Table Mode and Edit Mode. Table mode is not directly editable; however, you can edit a budget line by double-clicking on the line itself. Edit mode displays three separate areas: Results, Comparative, and Cost Structures. The Cost Structure area is directly editable and changes are immediately viewable in the Results area.

Depending on which modules you own, there are several screens that may be involved in Configuring/Viewing the budget including:

Notes:

  • All edits to the budget are described in this section with two exceptions: changes to KBI values or labor hours are done in Forecasting.
  • Many of the screens in this section contain the same information, regardless of the type of budget line. The definitions for common elements are included in the introduction section of the topic. Elements that are unique to a particular budget line will be covered in the individual budget line type sections.
