Enter Actual Environments

Actual environments are unique circumstances that affect KBIs and demand. You may have created a number of environments and designated KBIs as Environmental for your property during the configuration process. You can choose an environment for any KBI, for any day of the week. Entering actual environments lets LMS accurately segregate historical data that will be used in future forecasting. This task must be performed if you plan to generate and use the following daily reports: Daily Operating, Hours Variance Analysis, and Daily Payroll Summary.

Actual environments do not appear on daily reports. Therefore, this information must come from a Senior Manager, or from common experience (for example, everyone knows when there is a big ball game in town). You assign an environment to all applicable days.

Running the Enter Actual Environments task

To enter/edit environments for individual KBIs:

  1. In the toolbar, click the Main Menu icon (  ).
  2. From the drop-down list, under the Labor section, select Actuals.
    The Labor Actuals screen appears in a separate tab.
  3. Click Display advanced options.
  4. In the Enter Actual Environments row, click Update/Start.
    The Enter Actual Environments screen appears in the same tab.
  5. Change the Period if necessary.
  6. Determine which environments need to be applied to which KBIs on which days.
  7. Click in the cell under the appropriate day, for the selected KBI, and select an Environment from the drop-down list.

To enter/edit a single environment for multiple KBIs:

  1. In the toolbar, click the Main Menu icon (  ).
  2. From the drop-down list, under the Labor section, select Actuals.
    The Labor Actuals screen appears in a separate tab.
  3. Click Display advanced options.
  4. In the Enter Actual Environments row, click Update/Start.
    The Enter Actual Environments screen appears in the same tab.
  5. Change the Period if necessary.
  6. Determine which KBIs need to have the same environment applied and select the KBIs to which the environment should be applied by either:

    • Click Select All to apply the pattern to all KBIs.

      Note: If you click Select All, it not only selects all the KBIs but all the days as well.

      Or

    • Select individual KBIs to which the environment should be applied.

  7. Select the days that the environment would be applied to the KBI(s).

    Note: If you used Select All, all days are already selected. You can de-select any days you want to exclude.

  8. Use the Environment drop-down list in the toolbar to select an environment to apply to the selected KBIs on the selected days.
