To build a formula manually:

  1. Select the Formula tab.
  2. Select the Insert KBI button. The Insert KBI dialog box appears.
  3. Choose a KBI from the KBIs list.
  4. Enter a value for the Days to offset. Once you have selected a KBI, there are three choices for the value you want to give it: 1) Previous day's value [expressed as a negative number], 2) Current day's value [expressed as 0], or 3) Future day's value [expressed as positive numbers 1,2,3 etc.].
  5. Click OK. The KBI number is displayed in the Insert KBI area.
  6. Click the Insert Operator button and choose the type of operation you want to perform.
  7. Click OK. The operation type is displayed in the Formula area.
  8. Click the Insert Function button, if appropriate, and choose a function. 
  9. Click OK.
  10. Proceed to Entering Formulas for a list of the functions and the steps you will take to complete the formula. Note the function that you chose and follow the steps provided.
