Copying a Dataset/Budget
Copying datasets/budgets can save time and/or preserve data for reference purposes. You can copy one full dataset or you can add a second dataset and copy specific periods from one dataset and different periods from another dataset. For example, you can copy periods 1-9 from the first dataset and periods 10-12 from the second dataset. If the end period for dataset 1 overlaps with the start period for dataset 2, the overlapping periods will be summed. In essence, you are merging two datasets into one new dataset.
To create a new budget by copying existing datasets:
- Choose Copy Dataset from the Utilities menu.
- Choose the appropriate Year and Type of the dataset you wish to copy (From Dataset).
- Select Add 2nd Dataset if desired and complete Steps a-c. If you do not select Add 2nd Dataset, proceed to Step 4.
- Select the type of dataset from the Type 2 drop-down.
- Select the end period for Dataset 1.
- Select the start period for Dataset 2.
- Choose the appropriate Year and Type of the dataset you wish to create (To Dataset).
- Click OK. The new dataset will be named using the year and type that you designated in To Dataset (i.e. 2005 Original).
