About Global Events

Global Environments are identifiers for special circumstances (by day) that significantly impact the forecast of all statistical KBIs for your entire property. When you create an Global Environment, Watson automatically attaches it to every statistical KBI and calculated KBI specified for your property.

Creating events let you segregate historical data, so you can exclude this data from normal conditions. This feature lets Watson provide more accurate forecasts. For instance, New Years Eve each year is totally sold out throughout the property and all outlets are busy. Therefore, all KBI's in the property are affected.

About Forecasting With Global Environments

Since Global Environments are associated with all KBI's in the property for specific dates, you do not have to do anything for Watson to forecast upcoming event volumes. It will simply look at the history associated with the same date and use appropriate forecasting methodology to calculate the new volumes.

Remember that Global Environments KBI's will still calculate the same way as they do under normal circumstances. This means there might not be any values returned for the forecast until you have a significant number of these Global Environments with actual data in the system.

What Does This Do?

Creating Global Environments will NOT use the volumes for these days in forecasting for statistical and calculated KBI forecasts.

For example, assume you have designated New Years Eve (Dec. 31) as a Global Environment. Watson will exclude the volumes for this date when it forecasts volumes for the upcoming forecast period for all calculated and statistical KBI's.
