About Generating Projected Hours
The Generate Projected Hours task lets you generate a forecast for the number of hours required to meet projected business volumes. Based on the configuration of each job, Watson determines how many hours of labor will be needed to meet the projected volumes. In its simplest form it works like this: if it takes a Room Attendant 30 minutes to clean each occupied room, and 100 occupied rooms are projected, then Watson forecasts 50 labor hours (pure work requirement) for the Room Attendant job. This explanation does not take into consideration all factors that can affect a job, such as minimum shift, fixed work that must be done at the start or close of each shift, lunch breaks, and KBIs (other than Yesterday's Occupied rooms) which might affect the tasks to be performed.
Generating Projected Hours
To generate labor forecasts:
- Choose Planning on the Home page.
- Choose Forecasting at the bottom of the page.
- Click the Open button next to Generate Projected Hours in the task list. A popup window appears.
- Select the Division, Department, and Job for which you wish to generate hours, or leave the default <All> selection to generate hours projected for the entire property.
- Select a Standard Set if applicable.
- Select or de-select the Clear Schedules option. (Note: see note below for more information.)
- Choose the Start Date and End Date for the projected hours.
- Click the OK button.
Important
If you select the Clear Schedules option any schedules previously generated during the period, will be cleared. You will then need to go through the Generate Schedules process again. If you do not select Clear Schedules, the current schedule will not be modified. If you wish to make changes in the schedule based on the new projected hours, you will need to make the changes in the schedule manually.
