Windows technical specifications and hardware requirements

Software requirements (client)

  • Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 10.
  • Java Runtime Environment 6 update 24 or later (free download).
  • Internet Explorer 9.0 or later (free download).
  • Adobe Acrobat Reader 7 or later (free download).
  • Adobe Flash Player 11.0 (free download).
  • Microsoft Silverlight browser plug-in version 4 or later (free download).

Hardware requirements (client)

  • 2.4 GHZ dual core CPU or faster.
  • 2 GB of RAM minimum, 4 GB recommended.
  • 1 GB of free drive space.
  • Monitor with a minimum resolution of 1024 x 768.

UniFocus client network requirements

UniFocus has simplified the network requirements for all of our software services. All applications connect to the UniFocus network via standard HTTP and HTTPS. Below are the ports that need to be open to the UniFocus network:

  • Access to UniFocus Application Server IPs.
  • TCP Ports: 80 and 443
  • IP Networks/Blocks:
    • 74.124.22.64 /26
    • 108.166.171.192 /26
    • 198.161.237.0 /24

Note: If there are any firewalls or proxy servers on the client network, they must be configured to allow clients to download applications/java files from the UniFocus network. Java applets must be accessible from the client computers.

Time Clock network requirements

The Time Clocks need to keep their time synchronized with a time server. We typically configure the Time Clocks to synchronize with public time servers. This port needs to be open from the Time Clock servers to the Internet, or a local time server needs to be supplied.

  • Same network access as above.
  • NTP / Time server  UDP port 123.

Note: The information contained herein pertains to UniFocus version 9.x and higher.

  • Processor:  1.2 GHz or better.
  • Memory:  4+ GB of RAM recommended.
  • Storage:  300 MB of free drive space.
  • Display:  Monitor with resolution of 1024 x 768, though this will depend upon your computer.

How to tell which version of Java you are on:

  1. At the upper-left corner of your screen, click the Apple icon.
  2. From the drop-down list, select System Preferences.
  3. While in System Preferences, navigate to the Java icon.
    It will take about 10 seconds for the Java Control Panel to open.  
  4. Select About.
    A small window appears. It displays your version of Java.

How to check which version of Mac OS X you are running and how to check for Mac updates:

  1. At the upper-left corner of your screen, click the Apple icon.
  2. From the drop-down list, select About this Mac.
    The operating system is the version that appears.
  3. In that same window, click Software Update and you will be prompted to download/install updates if necessary.

How to tell which version of Safari you are on:

  • With Safari open, navigate to Safari > About Safari.
    A small window appears. It displays your Safari version.
