Working with the Employee Field Override screen

This page describes how to use the Employee Field Override screen to determine which fields are visible and which fields require data on the Employee Maintenance screen.

  1. In the toolbar, click the System Setup icon (  ).
  2. From the drop-down list, select Employee > Employee Field Override.
    The Employee Field Override screen appears in a separate tab. 
  3. Click Edit.
  4. The Edit Employee Field Override dialog box appears.
  5. Edit the fields as necessary.

  6. Click OK.  
    The Edit Employee Field Override dialog box closes, and your selections are reflected on the tabs of the Employee Maintenance screen.

Column
Field NameName (or label) of the field on the Employee Maintenance screen.

READ-ONLY.

You cannot edit the name of the field.

Visible

Select to make the field visible on the Employee Maintenance screen.

A field can be visible but not required.
Required

Select to make data required for the field.

A field that is required must also be visible.

If the Visible check box for a Field Name is cleared and you select Required, the Visible check box is automatically selected.

If a field is marked as Required, the employee information cannot be entered or updated in 

RMS

unless the required field is complete. An error message appears if the required field is not completed. If employees' records are being imported from an external source, the interface will not be completed without this required information.

Max. Length

The maximum number of characters allowed in the field.

Either select the number from the drop-down list or type the number in the field.

Fields containing N/A are READ-ONLY and cannot be changed.
Button
OKSubmits your changes and closes the dialog box. 
Cancel

Cancels your entries and closes the dialog box.
