When using Timeline Scheduling, "schedules" refer to planned, filled (or scheduled) shifts that are required to complete work for a specific time frame. -The shift operations menu provides several features that can be used for developing work schedules.

 

In many cases, you might need to copy schedules to future weeks or clear schedules to reassign different employees. - cut

Am I understanding this correctly? Need more information about schedules. How would the following procedures typically be used?

Generating schedules

Generating schedules allow you to... need more info. Not sure I understand what generating schedules does. - also called autoscheduling. Generating schedules is the option available for autoscheduling employees. when you generate schedules, the software attempts to assign employees to all unfilled planned shifts. Note: There are some pre-reqs for getting a high quality draft schedule from auto schedule or from generate schedules. Configuring thorough, accurate employee availability and entering all time off requests are vital to this process of generating schedules.

  1. In the Shift Operations section, click the gear menu (  ).
  2. From the drop-down list, select Generate Schedules.
    The Generate Schedules dialog box appears.
  3. Complete the fields as necessary.
    For more information, see Generate Schedule dialog box - field descriptions.
  4. Click OK
    A Generating Schedules progress bar appears. When the progress bar reaches 100 percent, the schedules have been successfully generated. A Success dialog box appears. It confirms that the schedule was successfully generated.
  5. Click OK.
    The Success dialog box closes.

Copying schedules

Copying a schedule allows you to copy all filled shifts from one week to another week. This is helpful for users not interested in using Generate Schedules for autoscheduling and in departments where the schedule doesn't change much from planning period to planning period. Note: The projected hours are not impacted and are based on forecasted business volumes for the current planning period.

  1. In the Shift Operations section, click the gear menu (  ).
  2. From the drop-down list, select Copy Schedules.
    The Generate Schedules dialog box appears.
  3. Complete the fields as necessary.

  4. Click OK
    A Copying Schedules progress bar appears. When the progress bar reaches 100 percent, the schedules have been successfully copied. A Success dialog box appears. It confirms that the schedule was successfully copied.
  5. Click OK.
    The Success dialog box closes. All selected scheduled shifts are copied to the specified week.

Clearing schedules and shifts

Clearing schedules

Clearing a schedule allows you to remove all assigned employees from the planned shifts. Use this option if you want to start from scratch with assigning of planned shifts. 

  1. In the Shift Operations section, click the gear menu (  ).
  2. From the drop-down list, select Clear Schedules.
    The Clear Shifts dialog box appears. Because you cannot undo the clear, the message asks if you are sure you want to clear all shifts. 

    Warning: After the schedules have been cleared, you cannot undo this action.

  3. Click Yes.
    The Clear Shifts dialog box closes. All scheduled shifts are cleared from the schedule pane. In the Jobs view, the shift bars return to an unplanned status.

Clearing shifts

If you don't want to use planned shifts currently present; you want to create your own. 

Change this section to clearing schedules and clearing shifts. Add new topic for clearing schedules. Place first. 

Clearing a shift allows you to remove all assigned employees from the planned shifts. Clear Shifts and Clear Schedules appear to do the same thing. What is the difference? - Clear Schedules unassigns all scheduled shifts; the shifts remain. Clear shifts removes the shift from the scheduling pane – it deletes the shift..

    A drop-down menu appears.
  2. From the drop-down menu, select Clear Shifts.
    The Clear Shifts dialog box appears. Because you cannot undo the clear, the message asks if you are sure you want to clear all shifts. 

    Note: After the shifts have been cleared, you cannot undo this action.

  3. Click Yes.
    The Clear Shifts dialog box closes. All scheduled shifts are cleared from the schedule pane. In the Jobs view, the shift bars return to an unplanned status.
