The Punch Validation work rule type contains the following work rules:
- No In Punch Validation
- In Punch Schedule Lockout
- Out Punch Schedule Lockout

Example: If you set the warning grace period to be 10 minutes, employees who are scheduled at 08:00 but do not punch In until 08:12 will receive a warning that they are punching in after the established in-punch criteria. If they punch in at 08:08, they will not see a warning message.

Use the Out Punch Schedule Lockout work rule to configure a time frame during which out punches are rejected and/or employees receive a warning.
- Do you want to lock out your employees? If yes, select the check box for Enable Lockouts.
- Do you want to warn employees that they're punching out outside of the scheduled time? If yes, select check box for Enable Warnings.
- If you don't need to lock out or warn employees, you do not need this rule.
- If you're configuring both lockout and warning, any punch outside of the warning grace period but inside the lockout grace period should be warned.
If selected, employees who are not scheduled for a shift can punch out.
