What is the default view when you open Timeline Scheduling? When I open Timeline Scheduling, the left pane defaults to Jobs and the schedule pane is empty (until I select a date range).

Shift Operations

Add Shift

Opens the Add Shift dialog box.

Undo

Undoes most recent action. 

Gear

Opens a drop-down menu to select the following:

  • Copy Schedules – Click to open the Copy Schedules dialog box. Use this option to copy an existing schedule from one planning period to another. For more information, see Copying schedules. 
  • Clear Schedules Clears all schedules. After selecting this option, a confirmation dialog box appears to verify that you want to clear all schedules. For more information, see Clearing schedules.
  • Clear Shifts Clears all shifts. After selecting this option, a confirmation dialog box appears to verify that you want to clear all shifts. For more information see Clearing shifts.
  • Recalculate Shifts Not sure what this does selection does because it seems to just open the Generate Schedule dialog box. -if you make a change to config, it would apply the change, e.g., lunch rule. rarely used. typically used by UF.
  • Generate SchedulesSelect to open the Generate Schedules dialog box. For more information, see the Generate Schedules dialog box - field descriptions.
  • Restore Auto Schedule – This is a new option. I'm not sure what this does. - if you generate schedules, make changes, and then you want to revert back to autoschedule.
  • Redistribute Work Content Creates planned shifts based on the work content in the Work Content view. For more information, see Using the Work Content view.

If you clear all schedules using the Clear Schedules option, this action cannot be undone.

If you clear all shifts using the Clear Shifts option, this action cannot be undone.


View Options

Refresh

Refreshes the views in the Timeline Scheduling screen.

This feature is helpful if you have added or edited many shifts and want to ensure that you are viewing the most current schedule that has been updated with all of your changes.

Top

Opens drop-down menu to select the following:

  • Job View Select to display the list of jobs in the left pane.
  • Employee View Select to display the list of employees in the left pane.
  • Show Statistics Select to display statistics in the left pane. Each statistic type is associated with a group of jobs. Click the triangle to open the list of jobs associated with the statistic type.
    Statistics types include:
    • System Planned Hours Need to define. - same as projected hours. aggregate of all system planned shifts. (need to standardize terms)
    • Manager's Planned Hours Need to define. - aggregate of all manager planned shifts.
    • Scheduled Hours Need to define. shift hours scheduled for period – assigned to employees
    • System Planned Coverage Need to define. number of employees in each hour of the day called for by the system plan
    • Manager's Planned Coverage Need to define.number of employees in each hour of the day called for by the manager plan
    • Scheduled Coverage Need to define. number of employees scheduled in each hour of the day
    • Coverage Percent Need to define. percentage of the system planned hours for the day that are covered by the schedule.
  • Work Content View Select to display the undistributed work content required to complete service an event. Only applies to jobs standard type event related
  • Workflow View – Select to display how work is flowed relative distributed to the manager planned shifts.

When using single-timeline view, this drop-down menu allows you to select the view you see in the scheduling section. When using dual-timeline view, use this drop-down menu to select the view for the top panes in the scheduling section.

 

Bottom

Opens drop-down menu to select the following:

  • Hide If using dual-pane schedule view, select to hide bottom pane and return to single-pane schedule view.
  • Job View Select to display the list of jobs in the left pane.
  • Shift View Select to display all unfilled shifts for jobs in the left pane.
  • Employee View Select to display the list of employees in the left pane.
  • Show Statistics Select to display statistics in the left pane. Each statistic type is associated with a group of jobs. Click the triangle to open the list of jobs associated with the statistic type.
    Statistics types include:
    • System Projected Hours Need to define.
    • Scheduled Hours Need to define.
    • Manager's Planned Hours Need to define.
    • Coverage Percent Need to define.
  • Work Content View Select to display the undistributed work content required to complete an event.

When using dual-timeline view, use this drop-down menu to select the view for the bottom panes in the scheduling section.

The Bottom drop-down menu applies only to the dual-timeline schedule view.

Zoom slider

Slider to zoom in and zoom out of the calendar.

  • To zoom in, move the slider to the right.
  • To zoom out, move the slider to the left.
 
Select Jobs and Dates

Job selection

Opens the Labor Selector dialog box. Use this dialog box to filter what types of job and employee groupings appear in the left pane.

Calendar selection

Opens drop-down menu to select the date range that appears in the schedule pane.

Depending on your selected view, this pane displays :

  • Jobs – List of jobs.
  • Employees  List of employees
  • Statistics  Statistics for job groups. Need more info.
  • Work Content Distributed and undistributed work required to complete an event.
  • Workflow – Workflow relative to planned shifts.

To sort the information in this pane by either ascending or descending order, do one of the following:

  • Click the header.
  • Hover the pointer to the far right of the column header and select either Sort Ascending or Sort Descending.
Information listed in this pane is READ-ONLY.
Schedule pane(s)

This pane displays the timeline schedule for the selected view in the left pane.

The appearance of the calendar in this schedule pane depends on the zoom magnification. If the zoom slider is moved all the way to the left (zoomed out), the calendar displays each day as a separate entry. If the zoom slider is moved all the way to the right (zoomed in), you see an hourly breakdown of each day. Shifts and undistributed work content appears appear as bars on the schedule.
